Conservation (Our Resource, Our Obligation)

Sustainability has become a buzzword world wide as depleted resources, pollution and over population continue to threaten global health and ecosystems.  Of primary importance to everyone is the state of fresh water supplies and how they are utilized.  Gone are the days of seemingly unlimited natural resources and disregard for personal consumption habits.  Nowhere is this more relevant than for communities like ours with water generated from pumping an aquifer.

Those of us drawing water from the Sun Vista/Sunlight Beach Water Association wells are reliant upon a water resource we know little about.  We do not know much about our water source, nor the extent of the resource. Conservation and sustainable consumption habits must become a priority for us all.

This fall we had Members with pipes (from the Association meters to their houses) split due to weakening from age and obsolescence.  Many gallons were lost when they ruptured unexpectedly. (Fortunately Andy Campbell from Whidbey Water Service discovered these early before homeowners experienced property damage.)
